Forest Flora for the Chakrata, Dehra Dun traces its origins to The Forest Flora of the School Circle, first compiled in 1901 by Rai Bahadur Upendranath Kanjilal (1859–1928), one of India’s pioneering botanists and forest officers. Educated at Presidency College, Calcutta, and the Imperial Forest School, Dehra Dun, Kanjilal combined scientific rigour with extensive field experience to produce botanical works that became indispensable references for generations of foresters.
